Description
15" (38 cm.) h. 9" x 9" base. Arranged upon a wooden platform with colorful lithographed designs is a merry-go-round, with painted circular column trimmed in gilt and with festival-like roof cover with flags and fringe edging. There are four paper mache horses with flannel hides and having amber glass eyes, leather harness, and hand-painted trim, and seated upon each horse is a bisque-head doll with glass eyes and original silk costume; notably, the little girls are modestly seated sideways on their horses. When wound by the porcelain knot, music plays and the merry-go-round twirls about. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Zinner and Sohne, circa 1890. Value Points: charming and well-functioning toy is wonderful state of original preservation.
