10 1/2" (27 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of plump-faced young lady, her head turned proudly to the side, down-gazing brown enamel eyes, slight smile, sculpted auburn hair in long flowering curls onto her shoulders, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and black shoes with red buckles, wearing original costume of green silk skirt trimmed with gilt thread, muslin blouse, embroidered arms and apron, and velvet-edged gilt metallic woven cap. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
