Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting an aristocratic balding gentleman, bald pate, sculpted grey sidelock and nape hair, grey stubbly beard and moustache, enamel eyes, pronounced nose, mouth modeled open with two side teeth, tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, carved details of wrinkles in leggings, black painted shoes with red buckles, wearing rich silk costume comprising blue coat with silk braid trim and buttons, magenta silk breeches, silk vest, sash. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, notable for fine artistry of sculpting and lavish costume.
