Description
16" (41 cm.) h. 12" seated. 5"h. Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of lady with up-tilted head, sculpted black hair with short curls at forehead and ears, then pulled into coiled braid, with red hair bands, enamel eyes, strong nose, slight smile, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden arms and legs, painted blue stockings and black shoes with red buckles, wearing original silk costume comprising green gown with laced bodice top, coral silk apron and sleeves with metallic gilt trim. The woman is posed seated on wooden rush chair (included) and is holding a terra cotta taufling baby wrapped in original matching swaddling costume. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, rare with original matching baby.
