Description
25" (64 cm.) The wooden-framed store has ochre-painted exterior with red striping, bronze-green painted base, and front decorative columns with black stenciled trim that matches the stenciled design on the interior counter and cabinet base. The interior has original wall and floor papers and there is a wall-length cabinet against the back wall with two arched display niches and 12 drawers with porcelain drawer knobs and labels having elegant script names of various spices and delicacies. An attached wooden ladder at the left side leads to a mezzanine with railing for storage of more food stuffs. The store includes its original tin oil lamp with milk glass shade. Original condition throughout, excellent except wall paper spotted. Germany, circa 1890, Christian Hacker. The kitchen is pencil script marked on the underside 2/345 (or b45) A hw (or A hh) ...H. and has the store stamp of Brost Schmidt, Bayreuth....(rest illegible).
