Description
18" (46 cm.) The domed top wooden trunk hinges open to reveal paper lined interior with lift-out tray and two forms for hat display. On the inside lid is the original paper label of Bereux located at 21 Rue de Hanovre in Paris with notation "speciality pour la confection et le toilette de poupees de tous genres" and that the firm had exhibited at the 1855 International Exhibition. Generally excellent. Louise Bereux was an early couturier at the Huret firm before striking out on her own. This rare trunk dates about 1860; after 1862 the date of the London exhibition also appeared on the trunk labels.
