Description
29" (74 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, rose-blushed eye shadow, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, separately-modeled pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing of elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 11 (head and shoulders) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (torso). Comments: Jumeau, circa 1878, the portrait face of the 1878 era poupee quickly evolved into the Jumeau bebe, and is very rare to find as a poupee. Value Points: the very rare model in extremely rare grand size, complemented by choicest bisque and painting, very fine costume, was likely created as an exhibition model.
