15" (38 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting an aged man with stern expression, deeply-impressed facial lines and scowls, enamel eyes, strong nose, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, sculpted wrinkled leggings with attached sandals, wearing original costume comprising green linen jacket with lacing, brown linen vest with lacing, neck wrap with matching turban, brown linen breeches, and with silver lidded jar on cord. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding sculpting and well-preserved original costume, unusual sculpting of leggings.
