Pressed bisque socket head, dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth, outlined and shaded lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9. Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1882, the model known as "Bebe Triste" in reference to its wistful expression. Value Points: rare smallest size of the triste bebe, original body and body finish, wearing superb couturier costume from the Ernestine Jumeau atelier including dress, matching bonnet, socks, and ivory silk shoes impressed "Bebe Jumeau" in gilt lettering.
