17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly-feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (Simonne stamp on torso). Comments: French, circa 1870, the doll was presented by the prestige Parisian doll shop of Maison Simonne which was noted for its luxury goods. Value Points: near mint condition of the perfectly-preserved poupee, the flawless complexion and body, very beautiful face, wearing original white pique gown with pleated cut-work trim, undergarments, bonnet, blue kidskin shoes signed C.C., jewelry, lorgnette.
