20" (51 cm.) l. shoe. A sculpted paper mache container in the shape of an old wooden shoe is filled with a grand bounty of miniature toys including poupard, lambs, mechanical penny tin toys, little bisque dolls, boxed parlor games, and more. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890, the grand presentation was prepared for a Paris department store holiday catalog such as Au Louvre, designed to present a tantalizing assortment of that year's novelty toys. Value Points: rare and charmingly preserved Etrennes presentation toy from the golden age of Paris department stores.
