Description
17" (43 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, slightly-parted lips, two rows of tiny porcelain teeth, blonde mohair wig, carton torso containing clockwork mechanism, composition arms and lower legs, kid-over-metal-covered hinged hips. When wound, the doll waves its arms and legs, turns its head side to side and cries "mama". Condition: generally excellent, some wear to kid cover of thighs. Comments: Jules Steiner, his deposed model of Bebe Gigoteur, circa 1885. Value Points: all-original, the bebe has original soft blonde mohair wig, and is wearing original lace dress and undergarments, matching bonnet, shoes and socks, likely from the workshop of the prestigious Parisian doll shop of Au Nain Bleu.
