Description
21" (53 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque head lady with blue glass eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, four tiny teeth, black mohair wig, lady-shaped torso body with hinged hips. When wound, music plays and she merrily shakes the tambourine and undulates her torso. Condition: generally excellent, drum pad missing on tambourine. Marks: 73 Unis France 189 301. Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1900. Value Points: rare and delightfully amusing automaton with well-functioning movements, elaborate original silk costume with decorated coins on costume and hat.
