23" (58 cm.) h. doll. The all-wooden hand-carved doll has inset blue eyes, closed mouth, applied fleecy hair, swivel head, screw-jointed wooden arms, legs and feet, wearing antique garments with embroidered letter F. The doll is holding her wooden toy circus elephant with wooden wheels, and original black man performer with carved top hat which when pulled along causes the elephant's trunk to wave up and down, and the man to bob forward and backward. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American folk doll and toy, early 1900s. Value Points: wonderful pair with intriguing details such as use of blue eyes on the doll, amusing mechanical action of the simple toy.
