Description
22" (56 cm.) Posed upon an ebony wooden base under a glass dome is an elaborate arrangement on mauve velvet tufted cushion surrounded by a bevy of gilt ormolu ornaments including flowers, leaves and a love bird with wreath which encircle a beveled mirror with hand-painted daisies. Excellent condition. French, circa 1885, the globe de mariee was a beloved French tradition, created to honor a newly-betrothed couple.
