17" (43 cm.) Seated upon a velvet-covered cushion box is a bisque head doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, bisque shoulderplate, carton torso and legs in seated pose, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. When wound, music plays and she turns her head side to side, and alternately fans herself and lifts the Book of Fables held in left hand. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (artist check marks on head). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: elegant lady wearing original silk costume, holding fan and Book of Fables, has charming action and music.
