21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig with soft curls, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, lovely antique costume, undergarments, kidskin shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Tete Depose Paris Bebe 9 (red stamp). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1892, the model was presented by Jumeau after winning his lawsuit against Danel & Cie, and being awarded the right to use the tradename "Paris Bebe"; it is considered the precursor of Jumeau's 200 art character series. Value Points: especially fine modeling with well-defined features enhanced by splendid eyes and fine lustrous patina on complexion.
