Description
14" (36 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead, black sculpted hair in center part that is captured under a blue-dotted pink snood with yellow and blue draped ribbon at her crown, pierced ears, painted blue eyes with unusual all-around eyeliner and painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1860, the unusual facial painting and classic French poupee body suggest French derivation, but uncertain. Value Points: very rare porcelain lady with unusual painting of eyes, rare coiffe, pleasing presence.
