12" (30 cm.) Each has carved wooden socket head with incised age lines on forehead and lip corners, tinted facial features, firmly-stuffed cloth body and legs, wooden hands, the man with a hint of smile, tinted pate, queue, and wearing original green textured gown under silk jacket and trousers, black silk slippers; and the woman with cut-back hair at forehead and having sparsely painted hair drawn from face into a coiled black chignon at the back of her head wearing green textured tunic over muslin chemise, black silk skirt over lined textured pants, silk slippers and with black velvet head wrap. Condition: generally excellent, man's tunic a bit faded. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission, circa 1910. Value Points: rare pair with distinctive facial carving of age lines, well-defined facial planes.
