Description
26" (66 cm.) x 34" framed. An oil-painting on board depicts a well-detailed vividly colorful French carnival scene, with various bazaar tents in the background around which are thronged many onlookers, while a French flag merrily waves. In the foreground is a table piled with prizes alongside a large Polichinelle into which two older children are tossing balls into its open mouth, while two younger children anxiously stand by. There is some very minor paint flaking, but overall excellent. French, late 19th century, unsigned, in the manner of the famed artist Chocarne-Moreau.
