14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, waist-length blonde mohair wig with original "flottante" curls over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1888. Value Points: pristine all-original condition with superb wig, luxury silk costume from the atelier of Ernestine Jumeau comprising elaborately-constructed dress of ivory silk faille with painted floral design with panels of burgundy silk having embroidered ribbon bands, Jumeau undergarments, burgundy silk stockings, red silk shoes with gilt lettering "Bebe Jumeau Med d'Or Paris 4", earrings and faux watch with fob, preserved in original box. The doll was brought to America in 1891, a gift to Jean Woodward from her grandmother, Sarah Stanley Hutchins, and has remained in the family until this time.
