18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, and having extra pivot-jointing at waist and thighs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A la Poupee de Nuremberg/ 21 rue de Choiseul/ Lavallee-Peronne/ Trousseaux Complets, Reparations/ Paris (paper label on front torso). Comments: Lily, the signature poupee from the doll shop of Madame Lavallee-Peronne, circa 1865; the doll was mentioned in La Poupee Modele, in which Lavalle-Peronne was referred to as "the doll maker of exquisite taste." Value Points: an important pivotal doll in poupee history, this example beautifully preserved with lovely bisque and artfully-crafted body, original label.
