15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes with spiral threading, long painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, auburn human hair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G.K. 28.27. Comments: Gebruder Kuhnlenz, circa 1885, the doll was designed to rival the popular French bebe of the era which it closely resembles. Value Points: beautiful closed mouth doll is wearing her original silk dress and bonnet designed in the French style, undergarments, leather boots; the doll is shown in the early volume 1, Collector's Encyclopedia of Dolls by Coleman, page 367.
