Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head, large almond-brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, closed mouth, shaded and outlined lips, applied ears, brunette mohair bobbed wig with cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Paris Bebe Tete Depose 4 (incised). Paris Bebe Depose (and Eiffel Tower symbol, body). Comments: Danel & Cie, circa 1889, the rare model was made for one or two years only; the story of the Jumeau/Danel lawsuit is told in The Jumeau Book by Theimer/Theriault on pages 148-151. Value Points: rare model with original signed body, fine petite size, antique costume.
