Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, long painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with downcast center line lending a pensive expression, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G.K. 34-25. Comments: Gebruder Kuhnlenz, circa 1885, the model closely resembles the early Bebe Bru Brevete whose market it attempted to capture. Value Points: very beautiful doll with sturdy original body and wig, wearing antique costume including undergarments, dress, socks, leather shoes with silver buckles, and an exceptional hooded cape of silk and wool plush.
