17" (43 cm.) Gofun-finished complexion, inset enamel eyes, closed mouth, armature body with sculpted hands, wearing distinctive pale lavender silk robe with brocade obi and tassels over white padded brocade gown and with aqua silk head cover, white slippers, Excellent condition. Japan, Showa era, the doll was used as the model in a painting by Huguette Clark, believed to have been one of those exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, circa 1930s.
