23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump face, blue glass sleep eyes, thick dark upper eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, plump composition and wooden eight-loose-ball jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume comprising cotton dress, fretwork pinafore, undergarments, woven bonnet, stockings, black leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent, old body revarnish. Marks: 989 13. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1885. Value Points: very rare closed mouth model, in this larger size virtually unknown, fine quality of bisque, original body.
