17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks and chin, brown glass paperweight inset eyes in perfectly oval shape, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve- blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden body with eight-loose-ball-jointing with straight wrists and flat-cut derriere. Condition: generally excellent, right hand worn. Marks: 8 (Sch in shield mark, on head and flat-edge of derriere) Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: very expressive features are complemented by finest bisque and painting, plump cheeks, original signed body, and wearing antique costume of young lady with woolen jacket, plush cap, trousers, socks, and leather ankle boots signed C.M.
