Description
20" (51 cm.) Felt swivel head, pressed and painted facial features, brown side-glancing eyes, dark eye shadow, closed mouth, painted moustache, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lenci (paper label, ink marked 100/123) Zampognaro Abbruzzo (parchment label). Comments: Lenci, circa 1936, the doll depicts a shepherd with bagpipe (Zampognaro in Italian) from the Italian region of Abbruzzo. Value Points: rare costume with wonderful detail including black mohair leggings, felt bagpipe with vibrant felt flower applique and wooden pipes, unusual painted moustache, original labels.
