11" (28 cm.) Mounted upon a three-wheeled tinplate platform is a paper mache head lady, black enamel eyes, slightly-parted lips with double row of tiny teeth, original white-blonde mohair wig to suggest powdered wig, shapely carton one-piece torso and legs, kid hands, and wearing her elaborate and beautifully designed original costume. When keywound, the lady glides forward, pauses, revolves, then glides again, while her head nods and her arms move up and down to show the flowers she has gathered. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Guillard. Comments: attributed to Alexander Theroude, circa 1850, sold at A La Galerie Vivienne, the luxury Parisian toy store. Value Points: very rare and elegant early mechanical doll is superbly preserved.
