Firmly-pressed stockinette doll with oil-painted complexion, hair and facial features, painted dark brown hair with shaped chignon and with feathered details around the face, painted brown eyes with white eyedots, red and brown upper eyeliner, painted lashes, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, cotton sateen body cover with defined waistline, stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, separately-sewn-on thumbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Chase Stockinet Doll. Made of Stockinet and Cloth, Stuffed with Cotton, Made by Hand, Painted by hand. Made by Especially Trained Workers (original paper label) (also stamp on leg). Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1900. Value Points: rare lady model by the American cloth doll maker in perfectly preserved original condition, with original labels, rare brown hair and eyes.
