13" (33 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carved shapely wooden torso with stretched kid cover, hinged thighs with kid culotte cover that is loose at the jointed knees, metal arms that are jointed at the shoulders and elbows, bisque jointed wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1870, the maker remains a mystery and may have been a special commission for the Paris doll shop of Terrene as similar examples of this doll have been found with this store label. Value Points: rare body in beautifully preserved condition, beguiling gentle expression, fine antique costume and accessories.
