12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting a solemn faced child, painted narrow blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke curvy brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, brown fleecy wig, composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Deponiert F.S. & Co 1203/30 Germany. Comments: Franz Schmidt, from their art character reform series, circa 1910. Value Points: few examples of the wistful-faced character are known to exist, this example with very fine choice and sculpting, appealing size with original body and body finish. The doll has a blue ribbon award from UFDC 2009 convention.
