Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, open mouth with double row of teeth, carton torso and full length carton skirt which encloses early version of the deposed mechanism with some wooden parts, hidden wheeled base. When wound the doll glides forward and in circles, raising arms and crying "mama". Generally excellent, mechanism functions well. Marks: J. Steiner fabricant, Rue de Saintonge, No. 25, Paris (original paper label on carton skirt, along with the name of the store which ordered the doll). Jules Steiner, circa 1867.
