18" (46 cm.) Bisque head with flanged neck depicting a wide-eyed young girl,blue glass sleep eyes,mohair lashes,dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with very full outlined lips,auburn mohair wig,muslin body with composition arms,antique costume including red woolen coat with lambswool collar and cuffs,and matching hat. Condition: generally excellent,composition arms repainted. Marks: copr. by Grace C. Rockwell Germany 1392/40. Comments: circa,1927,made in Germany from the copyright designs of the American artist Grace Corry Rockwell,the doll was marketed by the George Borgfeldt firm under the name "Pretty Peggy"; that reference appeared in their 1927 catalog. Value Points: especially beautiful example of the rare model with finest quality of bisque and painting,very gentle expression.
