13" (33 cm.) The golden oak chair, designed to rock (swing) and recline has attached folding foot rest, well-detailed carving of arms and lower spindles, and original crushed brown velvet upholstery. Included is an original catalog from S.A. Cook, distributors of "food flavors and floral waters", offering the people-sized version of this chair "free with a $12 assorted box of our specialties". The chair is illustrated and described in the catalog. Excellent condition. American, circa 1890, well-constructed salesman's sample chair with fascinating back story.
