Description
6 1/2" (17 cm.) and 7". Each has solid domed bisque swivel head, large blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, peg-jointed bisque arms and legs, painted white socks with blue rims, black two-strap heeled shoes. Condition: boy is excellent, girl has severe chip on upper rim of left leg, flakes at front neck opening. Marks: 9. Comments: German, for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: entrancing large eyes on the expressively-featured matching pair, he with brunette mohair curls and wearing original burgundy silk Marquis costume, and she with blonde mohair wig, wearing original cotton dress with silk ribbons, and holding opera glasses with Stanhope image.
