18" (46 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features, oil-painted shaded brown hair, stitched-on ears, painted brown eyes, dark eyeliner and all-around thick painted lashes, fringed brows, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, stitch jointing at hips and shoulders, oil-painted lower limbs, thigh-high painted blue boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, tiny flake on nose tip. Marks: (partly legible stamp of Mrs. S.S. Smith) No. 1. Comments: Alabama Baby, from the cottage industry of Ella Smith, circa 1900. Value Points: fine original condition of the American doll with rarer blue boots and beautifully-shaded hair, antique costume.
