27" (69 cm.) Bisque socket head, large brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, lushly-painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, upturned lip corners, separately-modeled pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and plump limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose E 12 J (and artist checkmarks, head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884. Value Points: an outstanding doll, with superior bisque and painting, original body and body finish, signed Jumeau shoes, and original very lavish costume with matching undergarments, and rose silk and lace dress with matching wide-brimmed ruffled bonnet; on the interior of the bonnet is an original silk label of the prestigious Parisian doll shop of Au Nain Bleu.
