Description
11" (28 cm.) Standing upon a wooden platform behind a velvet-covered music box is a carved head young black-complexioned lad with fleeced curly hair, enamel eyes, closed mouth, carved wooden hands and feet, wearing original gilt trimmed silk jacket (frail) over twill costume. Standing upon the box are two pairs of tiny wooden dancing couples, and in his left hand is a coin tray; when wound, music plays and the dolls dance around. Excellent condition, mechanism functions willfully. Germany, early 1800s.
