23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head with unusual plump cheeks, small blue glass paperweight inset eyes with luminous depth, dark painted lashes and eyeliner, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, dimpled chin, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E. 9 D. (and artist check marks on head). Comments: Jumeau, circa 1890, the model's marking commemorated Jumeau's long-time loyal employee Douillet. Value Points: an exceptionally pretty French bebe with unusual expression, is perfectly preserved in virtually unplayed with condition, wearing original dress of burgundy silk and white patterned cashmere wool, undergarments, maroon knit stockings, fancy leather shoes with rosette trim signed L.D.
