Value Points: in his book, Fascinating Dolls, Samy Odin relates the story of the doll. "This was our first lady doll, and has been on public display for more than twenty years! We acquired it from a prominent family in the Protestant valleys of the Piemonte region of Italy...Violette was given to its first Ôlittle mother' around 1865-67 and the wardrobe, which was, for the most part, homemade, reflects the fashion of the end of the Second Empire".
