25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full lower cheeks and chin, almond-shaped eye sockets in wide so-called "wrap-around" fashion, dark eyeliner, delicately-painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows with feathered highlights, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth, defined space between the pale shaded lips with accented outline, impressed dimples on chin and philtrum, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate (original remnants of lambswool wig under mohair wig), French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and very plump limbs, wearing early cotton dress with print of playful children, undergarments, ruffled frou-frou bonnet, knit socks, leather shoes signed Bebe Jumeau. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878, his most luxurious model known as "portrait" in the largest size made by Jumeau at this time. Value Points: the rarity of the model, especially in this size, is enhanced yet further by its exceptional modeling and bisque, original body and body finish. In his book, Fascinating Dolls, Samy Odin noted that the doll was acquired from the family of the original owner, and is wearing its original clothing.
