Description
18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a red velvet covered platform is a doll with bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, lushly-painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wearing silk costume and shoes. The doll is posed behind a tinplate stove with copper pot which contains a white fur pup with glass eyes. When wound, the girl turns her head side to side, lifts bottle as though taking a drink, and with her other hand lifts the lid of the copper pot to reveal the pup. Condition: generally excellent, two fingers broken, costume original albeit frail. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1 (head). Comments: Roullet & Decamps, circa 1890. Value Points: rare amusing automaton with original costume.
