Description
13" (33 cm.) h. 9"body. Having a hard body tube with shagreen finish and brass ends, enclosing colored glass vials, geometric mandala, and magnifying end, mounted on wooden pedestal, designed for placement and entertainment in a parlor setting. The kaleidoscope was created by Sir David Brewster in 1816, and became a widely-popular entertainment for the American parlor when it was introduced into the United States in the 1870s by Charles Bush.
