14 1/2" (37 cm.) All-cloth doll with egg-shaped head, flat-dimensional facial features, oil-painted facial features and hair, painted brown eyes with eyedots, single stroke brows, rounded nose, closed mouth with well-shaped lips, brown painted curls with scalloped details, stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, oil-painted lower arms and legs, bare feet. Condition: generally excellent, few minor paint rubs. Marks: Columbian Doll Emma E. Adams Oswego Estates N.Y. (stamp on torso). Comments: the award-winning "Columbian Doll" first shown at the Chicago World's Fair (International Exposition) of 1892. Value Points: very dear expression on the rare doll, wearing original costume including printed muslin jacket with state stars and "World's Fair 1892 Chicago" medallions.
