Description
6" (15 cm.) All-bisque character with swivel head, black sculpted hair with feathered bangs and bobbed hair, painted facial features, blue side-glancing eyes, single stroke brows, rounded nose, impish smile on closed moth, sculpted blue and yellow costume, loop-jointed bisque arms and legs, pointing right finger, brown sculpted shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Kestner, circa 1915, depicted is Max from 19th century children's books of Wilhem Busch and popularized in the early 20th century American comic strip, The Katzenjammer Kids. Value Points: rare all-bisque comic character with very fine modeling.
