16" (41 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with plump lower cheeks, brown glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lushly painted dark curly lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined pale lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, costume included. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878. Value Points: early premiere model of the important bebe has precious delicate modeling and bisque, original early body and body finish, and is wearing a beautiful early silk dress with Alencon embroidered lace and fancy bonnet.
