Solid domed paper mache head with fine gofun complexion, painted hair with comb-marked details, enamel inset eyes, incised upper eyeliner, tinted grey brows, closed mouth with incised detail on lips, large size sculpted ears, paper mache shoulderplate, lower torso, and lower legs and feet, wooden lower arms and hands, muslin midriff and upper arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (Japanese lettering signature on paper wrap at torso). Comments: Japan, circa 1920s. Value Points: superbly-preserved condition of the grand-sized Ichimatsu which wears luxury original silk and silk crepe costume.
