Description
2 1/2" (6 cm.) Each of 12 all-bisque dolls has swivel head and jointing at shoulders and hips, painted facial features,mohair wig, blue or black painted boots. Condition: generally excellent, costume frail on one. Comments: French, circa 1900, the dolls were known as Lilliputians; appearing in French Etrennes catalogs as early as 1890, they continued in production until at least 1912 when they appeared in the SFBJ catalog of that year. Value Points: the precious little mignonettes are each wearing its original silk costume, mostly theatrical, highlighted by an exceptional pair of Polichinelle, and are preserved in their original presentation box with label of the prestigious Parisian toy store, Au Nain Bleu.
